AQQA Aquarium Sponge Filter, 75.7–416 L, Air-Powered with Gentle Flow

The AQQA aquarium sponge filter is an air-powered filter for 20–110 gallon freshwater or saltwater tanks, combining a vertical sponge with a ceramic media chamber for mechanical and multi-stage filtration.

• Fits 20–110 gallon aquariums — supports a range of freshwater and saltwater setups.
• Sponge and ceramic media filtration — catches debris while providing a chamber for ceramic media.
• Filtration, circulation, and aeration in one unit — helps keep tank water moving and aerated.
• Gentle water flow — suited to bettas, shrimp, fry, and other delicate aquatic life.
• Includes two replaceable sponges and a bag of washable ceramic media balls — provides replacement filter media.

For aquariums that need filtration without a strong current, this corner-style sponge filter brings several water-care functions together in a compact unit. It is intended for breeding tanks, nano aquariums, shrimp tanks, and betta setups, as well as other tanks within its stated capacity range.

Which aquariums can use the AQQA sponge filter?

The AQQA sponge filter is made for 20–110 gallon (76–416 L) freshwater and saltwater aquariums. Its gentle flow makes it a suitable option for tanks with bettas, shrimp, fry, and other delicate aquatic life. It operates using an external air pump, which is not included, and requires a suitable pump and 4 mm air hose for the tank size.

• Suitable setups include breeding, nano, shrimp, and betta tanks.
• Choose an air pump appropriate for the aquarium and pair it with a 4 mm air hose.

How does the filter clean and circulate aquarium water?

The AQQA aquarium sponge filter uses a vertical-pattern sponge to trap debris, uneaten food, and fish waste, while the built-in ceramic media ball chamber provides surface area for multi-stage filtration. A built-in air stone drives gentle water movement and surface agitation, combining filtration with circulation and aeration. The air-powered design is made for quiet operation.

• The corner design takes up less tank space than a filter placed across a larger area.
• Surface agitation helps keep water circulating.

What filter media comes with it, and how do you maintain it?

The AQQA filter comes with two replaceable sponges and one bag of washable ceramic media balls. For routine sponge cleaning, remove it and rinse it in aquarium water; the filter media can also be swapped to suit tank needs.

• Before first use, squeeze the sponge fully in tank water so the filter sinks securely to the bottom.
• The included ceramic media balls are washable.

Is the AQQA filter suitable for delicate fish and shrimp?

Yes. The AQQA aquarium sponge filter produces gentle water flow for bettas, shrimp, fry, and other delicate aquatic life. Its air-powered operation combines that flow with filtration and aeration, making it appropriate for setups where a gentler current is needed.

• The built-in air stone creates surface movement as the filter runs.
• The compact corner form is intended to save aquarium space.

The AQQA aquarium sponge filter suits aquarium keepers who want air-powered filtration, water circulation, and aeration in one unit, particularly for breeding, shrimp, and betta setups. Its stated 20–110 gallon range, gentle flow, and included replacement media make it a fit for tanks that need sponge-and-ceramic filtration rather than a strong current.
