For dogs that move between trails, dog parks and daily neighborhood walks, collar hardware needs to remain practical as activity and conditions change. The Field Nylon Dog Collar is designed for outdoor use throughout the year, including early morning and evening outings. Its moving leash ring, adjustable strap and easy-release buckle address common handling needs without making the collar’s purpose complicated.

What makes this collar suitable for outdoor use?

The collar is made from 600-denier fabric that resists stretching, takes up less water than standard nylon and repels odors. Those material properties support routine use on walks and outdoor excursions, where the collar may encounter damp conditions or frequent wear. Its construction is intended for daily activity rather than a single setting, so it can go from a dog park to a trail and back into a regular walking routine.

• Designed for trails, dog parks and everyday walks.
• Made for outdoor use year-round.

How does the leash attachment stay accessible?

The floating D-ring rotates freely around the collar, helping keep the attachment point within reach when the collar shifts as your dog moves. Unlike a fixed ring, it can change position instead of remaining in one spot against the neck. A metal strap adjuster holds the selected fit during daily wear, helping prevent the strap from creeping looser between adjustments.

• The D-ring moves around the collar instead of being fixed in one position.
• The metal adjuster maintains the selected strap setting between fit adjustments.

Can the buckle be operated with gloves or wet hands?

Yes. The side-release buckle is designed to open and close with heavy work gloves or wet hands, and it operates faster than a traditional prong buckle. Its built-in safety design helps prevent accidental disengagement, including when a dog pulls against leash tension during an outdoor outing. This makes the fastening system practical to handle in cold weather as well as during ordinary walks.

• Side-release closure for quick fastening and release.
• Designed for handling with heavy work gloves or wet hands.

Which neck size does the Large collar fit?

The Large collar fits a neck measurement of 18–26 inches (45.72–66.04 cm) and is 1 inch (2.54 cm) wide. For a more accurate fit, measure around the base of your dog’s neck. The Medium size fits necks 12–18 inches (30.48–45.72 cm) and is 0.75 inch (1.905 cm) wide, giving a clear size comparison when choosing between the two.

• Measure at the base of the neck to choose a suitable fit.
• Medium and Large have different neck ranges and collar widths.

The Carhartt Field Nylon Dog Collar in Large suits owners looking for an adjustable outdoor collar for a dog with a neck measurement in its 18–26-inch range. Its reflective wordmark supports visibility during low-light outings, while the moving ring and glove-friendly buckle are designed around everyday leash use. It is a practical choice for active walks where the fit, attachment point and closure all need to work together.
