ChokeFree Pet Shoulder Collar, 23-Inch Non Metallic Blue Leather Restraint

ChokeFree Pet Shoulder Collar is a one-piece, leather restraint for leash walks, designed to wrap around a pet’s shoulders and keep restraint pressure off the neck and airway; this version is 23 inches (58.4 cm).

• Shoulder-wrap design — places restraint around the shoulders rather than the neck, fore chest or airway.
• Leather construction with paw ornaments — gives the collar its distinctive decorative detail.
• Val-Lock closure with a D-ring and hook-and-loop fastening — secures without buckles or clasps.
• Easy-on, easy-off design — makes fitting and removing the restraint straightforward.
• Non Metallic Blue color — provides a vibrant color choice for walks.
• Fits chest measurements from 8 to 28 inches (20.3 to 71.1 cm) — add 1 inch (2.5 cm) to the measurement to determine the size.

Conventional neck collars can put pressure on a pet’s neck and airway when the pet pulls against a leash. ChokeFree is made for owners who want a restraint designed to avoid that pressure during walks. Its shoulder-wrapping format combines the simplicity of a one-piece collar with features of a harness, and is especially relevant for smaller-breed dogs whose owners are mindful of pressure around the windpipe.

How does the ChokeFree shoulder collar work?

The collar wraps around the pet’s shoulders so restraint pressure is not placed on the neck, fore chest or airway. Its patented Val-Lock closure uses a D-ring through hook-and-loop fastening to secure the collar without buckles or clasps. The design is intended to help avoid gagging and coughing associated with pressure from a restraint.

• Made for use as a pet restraint during leash walks.
• Combines a one-piece format with harness-style shoulder placement.
• Designed as a proactive alternative to restraint that presses on the neck.

How do I choose the right size?

Measure your pet’s chest just behind the front legs, then add 1 inch (2.5 cm) to that measurement to determine the correct size. ChokeFree sizes are intended for pets with chest measurements from 8 to 28 inches (20.3 to 71.1 cm), and this listing is for the 23-inch (58.4 cm) version.

• Take the chest measurement around the body, just behind the front legs.
• Use the added inch when determining the collar size.

What makes it easier to put on and use?

ChokeFree is designed to go on and come off easily, without the buckles or clasps used by many conventional restraints. Its closure secures with the D-ring and hook-and-loop system, while the shoulder-wrap shape keeps the restraint positioned around the shoulders. The collar is also made for use with Paw Rider.

• Decorated with paw ornaments.
• Available in the Non Metallic Blue color shown for this version.

This collar suits pet owners seeking a shoulder-based restraint for walking, particularly when they want to avoid placing leash restraint pressure on the neck and airway. It is intended for pets within the stated chest-measurement range, and its 23-inch size, shoulder-wrap construction and buckle-free closure define its fit and use.
