Eheim Aquarium Prefilter 6664 with Two Filter Baskets for External Filters

The Eheim 6664 Prefilter is an aquarium prefilter designed to catch coarse dirt before water reaches an external filter, using two filter baskets with aquarium filter cartridges.

• Traps the majority of coarse dirt particles — helps keep larger debris out of the external filter.
• Fits into the filtration path ahead of an external aquarium filter — provides an additional prefiltration stage.
• Two filter baskets — provide two sections for the aquarium filter cartridges.
• All-round suction — supports gentler filtration in the tank.
• Helps avoid premature clogging of the external filter — coarse particles are caught before they reach it.

Coarse debris entering an external filter can contribute to early clogging. The Eheim 6664 adds a prefiltering step for aquarium setups that use an external filter, catching most coarse particles before the water reaches that filter. Its all-round suction is designed to make tank filtration gentler.

What does the Eheim 6664 Prefilter do?

It catches the majority of coarse dirt particles before they reach an external aquarium filter. This extra stage is intended to help prevent premature clogging of the external filter. All-round suction supports gentler filtration in the tank.

• Designed for use ahead of an external aquarium filter.
• Captures coarse dirt before water reaches the external filter.

What comes with the Eheim 6664 Prefilter?

The prefilter consists of two filter baskets with aquarium filter cartridges. The baskets form the cartridge-holding sections of this additional filtration stage, positioned before the external filter in the water’s filtration path.

• Two filter baskets.
• Aquarium filter cartridges.

How does its suction support gentler filtration?

The Eheim 6664 uses all-round suction, a feature intended to provide gentler tank filtration. It also catches most coarse dirt before that material reaches the external filter, adding prefiltration to the aquarium’s filtration process.

• All-round suction for tank filtration.
• Coarse-particle prefiltration before the external filter.

The Eheim 6664 Prefilter is suited to aquarium owners using an external filter who want an added stage for catching coarse debris before it reaches that filter. It combines two cartridge baskets with all-round suction, making it a prefilter for external-filter aquarium systems rather than a standalone external filter.
