Halatool Coconut Fibre Reptile Substrate, 8 Compressed Bricks for Moisture-Retaining Habitats

Halatool compressed coconut fiber substrate is bedding for reptiles and amphibians that need moisture-holding habitat material, supplied as eight bricks measuring 7.87 x 3.94 x 1.97 inches (20 x 10 x 5 cm) each.

• Coconut husk fiber, clean and free of dirt or foreign substances — provides a natural substrate material.
• Absorbs 8–10 times its weight in water — helps retain moisture in a habitat.
• Helps minimize odor and break down waste — supports a cleaner enclosure environment.
• Reusable, lightweight compressed bricks — make the substrate easier to store before use.
• Suitable for reptiles, amphibians, spiders and gardening — offers uses beyond standard enclosure bedding.

Moisture needs differ between animals and habitats. These compressed coco coir bricks are made for keepers looking for substrate that can hold water, including for reptile and amphibian enclosures, and for people who want a coconut-fiber material for other supported uses.

How do you prepare the compressed bricks?

Soak a brick in water until it expands and reconstitutes into loose substrate. If the material is too wet for your intended use, let it dry for a day or two before adding it to the habitat.

• The bricks swell when water is added.
• Once expanded, the substrate can be bagged like nutrient soil for storage.

Which animals and habitats can use this substrate?

It is intended for reptiles and amphibians that need moisture-holding bedding, and can also be used for snakes, frogs and hermit crabs. Coconut fiber’s water absorption and drainage properties make it useful where habitat moisture matters.

• It can be used as a feeding mat for various reptiles.
• Spider keepers can use it as a ground-dwelling spider rearing mat.
• Its moisture-holding properties can be used to maintain moisture during turtle hibernation.

Can the coconut fiber be used for plants?

Yes, this substrate can also be used for growing vegetables, fruits and flowers. Its compressed form expands with water, making the same coconut-husk fiber suitable for both animal-care and gardening applications.

• The raw material comes from the husk on the outside of a coconut.
• The substrate is described as organic and reusable.

Halatool coconut fiber substrate is suited to reptile and amphibian keepers who need water-absorbing bedding, as well as spider keepers and gardeners who can use the same material for their applications. Each brick starts compressed, then expands with water into coconut-husk fiber substrate.
