MarineLand Penguin 200 GPH Power Aquarium Filter for Tanks up to 50 Gallons

MarineLand Bio-Wheel Penguin 200 GPH Power Aquarium Filter is a three-stage filter for aquarium water, with patented rotating Bio-Wheel technology and a flow rate of 200 GPH (757 L/h).

• Rated for aquariums up to 50 gallons (189 L) — match the filter to the tank’s capacity.
• Mechanical, chemical and biological filtration — addresses different filtration needs in one filter.
• Rotating Bio-Wheel exposes beneficial bacteria to air — supports wet/dry biological filtration.
• Bio-Wheel does not clog or need replacement — the wheel itself is designed to stay in use.
• Noise-reducing, two-piece vented cover and adjustable mid-level intake strainer — useful design features for aquarium setup.

This power filter is made for aquarium keepers who want mechanical, chemical and biological filtration in a single unit. Its rotating wheel supports biological filtration, while a compatible filter cartridge handles dirt and debris. Aquarium filtration needs can vary with tank size, fish population and maintenance habits, so use the 50-gallon capacity as a guide when choosing this size.

How does the Penguin filter aquarium water?

The filter combines mechanical, chemical and biological filtration, with a rotating Bio-Wheel providing wet/dry biological filtration. As the wheel turns, it exposes beneficial bacteria to air, helping support nitrifying bacteria growth. MarineLand’s product claims this process helps eliminate toxic ammonia and nitrate quickly.

• Mechanical filtration helps remove dirt and debris.
• Chemical filtration uses activated carbon in a compatible cartridge.
• The Bio-Wheel is patented and does not need replacement.

What tank size is the 200 GPH model for?

This version is rated for aquariums up to 50 gallons (189 L). MarineLand also offers 75 GPH for tanks up to 10 gallons (38 L), 100 GPH for up to 20 gallons (76 L), 150 GPH for up to 30 gallons (114 L), and 350 GPH for up to 70 gallons (265 L).

• Compare your aquarium’s capacity with the 50-gallon maximum for this model.
• Tank size, fish population and maintenance habits all affect filtration needs.

Which filter cartridge does it use?

The Penguin uses MarineLand Rite-Size Filter Cartridges; choose the cartridge size recommended for the individual filter. These cartridges use Black Diamond Premium Activated Carbon to filter dirt and debris and support water clarity.

• The adjustable mid-level intake strainer is part of the filter design.
• The two-piece cover is vented and designed to reduce noise.
