ORIJEN Original is made for cats whose food is built around animal ingredients and protein. Its grain-free kibble combines several animal ingredients with probiotics, omega fatty acids and taurine, and is formulated for cats at every life stage. The recipe is designed to support digestion, shiny coat, healthy skin and heart health.

What animal ingredients are in ORIJEN Original?

The first five ingredients include fresh or raw free-run chicken and turkey, whole mackerel, turkey giblets and flounder. Together, these ingredients provide essential protein, vitamins and minerals. The recipe follows ORIJEN’s WholePrey approach, using nutrient-dense and succulent parts of prey as ingredients for feline nourishment.

• Free-run chickens and turkeys are not kept in cages and can move around in a barn; they do not have outdoor access.
• Fresh ingredients are preserved using refrigeration alone.
• Raw ingredients are frozen at peak freshness.

What does the freeze-dried coating add?

The kibble has a freeze-dried coating that provides a burst of raw flavor. This coating is the recipe’s stated flavor feature; the food itself is dry kibble. ORIJEN describes its WholePrey recipe as using the most nutrient-dense, succulent parts of prey, with animal ingredients forming the central feature of the food.

• Dry cat food in kibble form.
• Grain-free recipe.
• Freeze-dried coating for raw flavor.

Which cats is this food made for?

ORIJEN Original is formulated for cats of all life stages. The recipe includes probiotics, omega fatty acids and taurine to support digestion, a shiny coat, healthy skin and heart health. These are the food’s stated support purposes, rather than a promise of a particular result for an individual cat.

• Intended for cats across life stages.
• Includes probiotics, omega fatty acids and taurine.
• Designed to provide biologically appropriate, protein-rich nourishment.
