What is the Outward Hound Dawson life jacket designed to do?

The Dawson is made to support dogs during swimming, boating, floating and other water adventures. Neoprene panels along the sides provide buoyancy and thermal insulation, including in cold water, while a front float support helps keep your dog’s head above the surface. Together, these features are designed for water activities rather than restricting your dog’s movement.

• Suitable settings include open water, pools, boats, kayaking and the beach.
• The design is intended for beginner to intermediate swimmers.

How do I choose a fit for my dog?

Choose the small size by measuring your dog around the widest part of the rib cage. The jacket has adjustable straps and quick-release buckles to create a close, comfortable fit across different body shapes. Sizes XS through XL are available in the Dawson range; this product is the small size.

When comparing fit, take your dog’s build into account as well as the rib-cage measurement: broad shoulders or a long torso can affect how a vest sits. Adjust the straps for a snug fit that still allows movement.

• Measure around the widest part of the rib cage.
• Consider distinctive proportions, including large shoulders or a long torso.

What helps make the jacket visible and easier to lift?

The bright blue color and reflective trim are designed to improve visibility in low-light conditions. For lifting or assisting your dog out of the water, the small jacket has one top grab handle; the front float support also helps keep the head above the surface.

Handle configuration varies by size: XS and small have one top handle, while medium through extra-large sizes have two. This small-size jacket has a single handle, so the number of handles is tied to the selected size.

• Reflective accents add visibility in dimmer conditions.
• Small size: one top handle; medium to extra-large: two top handles.

What materials and design features support movement?

The Dawson combines ripstop material with neoprene side panels in a sporty, ergonomic shape. The ripstop fabric is designed for strength and breathability, while the cut is intended to let active dogs move without restriction. Neoprene panels add warmth and buoyancy without changing the jacket’s role as a wearable flotation aid.

• Ripstop construction is designed for durability and airflow.
• The ergonomic shape is made for active movement.

The Outward Hound Dawson in small is a practical choice for owners taking a beginner or intermediate canine swimmer on pool, beach, boating or kayaking outings. Its small-size handle, adjustable closure, buoyant neoprene panels and front float support bring water-focused features together in one dog life jacket.
