PetSafe Gentle Leader No-Pull Dog Headcollar, Raspberry Pink Small, Adjustable Fit

PetSafe Gentle Leader is a raspberry pink, small dog headcollar designed to help redirect pulling and improve leash manners, using an adjustable nose loop and quick-snap neck strap.

• Designed by a veterinary behaviorist and recommended by vets — helps interrupt the instinct to pull against pressure.
• Redirects your dog’s head toward you when they pull — helps bring attention back to you and away from distractions.
• Durable nylon straps and a padded neoprene nose loop — provide the headcollar’s stated materials and nose-loop padding.
• Minimal straps — help keep your dog cool while wearing it.
• Not a muzzle — your dog can still eat treats, drink water and catch a tennis ball while wearing it.
• Not designed for short-snouted dogs, including pugs and bulldogs — the shape needs a longer snout to fit.

Pulling on leash can make it harder to guide a dog’s attention during a walk. The Gentle Leader is a training tool for dogs that pull: its nose loop changes the direction of the dog’s head when they pull against pressure, helping them refocus on the person holding the leash. PetSafe reports that the headcollar has helped improve 5 million walks around the world. It can also be kept as a backup for situations that call for more control, such as a visit to the vet, after a dog has learned better walking habits.

How does the Gentle Leader help with leash pulling?

The headcollar gently guides your dog’s head toward you when they pull, interrupting the natural response to pull against pressure. This redirection is designed to help shift attention from distractions back to you. The Gentle Leader is PetSafe’s most effective no-pull solution, and its design was created by a veterinary behaviorist.

• Made for leash training with dogs that pull.
• Recommended by vets to interrupt pulling against pressure.
• May also provide extra control during situations such as veterinary visits.

How do I fit the small headcollar, and which dogs does it suit?

The small Gentle Leader has an adjustable nose loop and a quick-snap neck strap, with fitting designed to take minutes. Secure the nose loop until you hear the snap closure. Fit depends on your dog’s snout shape: this headcollar will not fit dogs with very short snouts, such as pugs or bulldogs.

• Raspberry pink color and small size.
• Adjust the nose loop to fit your dog.
• Listen for the snap when securing the nose loop.
• Choose it for a dog whose snout is not very short.

Is the Gentle Leader a muzzle, and how can my dog get used to it?

No. Although the nose loop rests over the snout, the Gentle Leader does not work like a muzzle; your dog can eat a treat, drink water and catch a tennis ball while wearing it. To introduce it, let your dog wear the headcollar without a leash attached while doing favorite activities. This gives your dog a chance to become comfortable wearing it before using it on walks.

• Minimal straps are designed to help keep your dog cool.
• The nose loop is padded with neoprene.
• PetSafe’s risk-free purchase promise includes help with a different size or a replacement if your dog chews the headcollar.

PetSafe has focused on pet behavior, containment and lifestyle products since 1998, and its U.S.-based pet-product experts are available by phone, email or chat for questions. The Gentle Leader is suited to people training a dog that pulls and looking for a headcollar they can also keep on hand for times when extra control is useful. It fits that use with a redirecting nose loop, adjustable small-size fit and a design that is not intended for very short-snouted dogs.
