Race&Herd 22-Inch Medium Herding Ball, Gold, with Cover, Pump & Training Guide

Race&Herd Original Herding Ball is a 22-inch (55.88 cm) medium dog herding ball made for supervised play that lets dogs push and steer a livestock-style rolling ball.

• Weighted to roll and stop like livestock — encourages dogs to push and guide it with their shoulders and nose.
• Medium size for dogs roughly 10–35 lb (4.54–15.88 kg) — suited to breeds such as Shelties, Corgis and lighter Collies.
• Complete play set — includes a protective zip cover, inner ball, hand pump, repair patches and an IACP-approved herding training guide.
• Repairable two-layer design — the cover takes the pushing, while the inner ball can be replaced; patches are included.
• Inflates to 2–3 PSI and is intended for supervised herding play — not for chewing.

Some herding dogs are drawn to chasing and controlling movement rather than carrying a toy back. This ball is designed around that kind of play: its size and weighted roll give dogs a ball to move with their shoulders and nose. Use it during supervised herding play, with the ball kept away from direct heat.

How does the ball support herding play?

Its weighted design makes the ball roll and stop in a way that resembles livestock, while its large size makes it too big to carry. Dogs can push, chase and steer it using their shoulders and nose, rather than playing fetch by picking it up.

• Designed for herding play, not fetch.
• Supervision is part of the intended use.

Which dogs is the 22-inch size for?

The 22-inch (55.88 cm) Medium size is for dogs roughly 10–35 lb (4.54–15.88 kg), including Shelties, Corgis and lighter Collies. For dogs over 35 lb (15.88 kg), the recommended sizes are 25 inches (63.5 cm) or 30 inches (76.2 cm).

• Compare your dog’s weight with the stated size range when choosing.
• Gold is the color of this version.

What comes with the ball, and how do I prepare it?

The set includes the pieces for setup and play, plus a guide for herding training. Inflate the inner ball until firm at 2–3 PSI before use.

• Keep the ball out of direct heat.
• The ball is not a chew toy.
• The cover and inner ball form separate layers; the inner ball is replaceable, and repair patches are supplied.

Race&Herd Original Herding Ball is a fit for owners of herding breeds who want a supervised activity centered on pushing and steering, especially for dogs within the Medium size’s weight range. Its livestock-style roll, protective cover and replaceable inner ball make it a herding-play set rather than a carry-and-fetch toy.
