Race&Herd Original Herding Ball, 18-Inch Ocean, with Cover and Pump

Race&Herd’s 18-inch Original Herding Ball is a supervised herding-play ball for dogs, supplied with a protective cover, inner ball and hand pump.

• 18-inch (45.72 cm) Small size — made as a starter size for small breeds and puppies beginning herding play.
• Too large to carry and weighted to roll and stop like livestock — encourages herding breeds to push, chase and steer with their shoulders and nose.
• Protective zip cover and replaceable inner ball — provide two repairable layers for play.
• Hand pump, repair patches and IACP-approved herding training guide included — brings the core play and training items together.
• Inflates to 2–3 PSI and is intended for supervised herding play — gives owners clear setup and play guidance.

Dogs bred to herd often enjoy chasing and directing movement, but a ball designed for carrying or fetching does not offer the same kind of play. Race&Herd’s oversized ball is made to be pushed and steered instead, giving small breeds and young dogs a dedicated way to begin herding-style play with supervision.

Is the 18-inch Original Herding Ball the right size for my dog?

The 18-inch (45.72 cm) Small is the starter size for small breeds and puppies beginning herding play. Dogs over about 20 lb (9 kg) should size up to 22 inches (55.88 cm) or 25 inches (63.5 cm). Its size is part of the design: the ball is too large for a dog to carry, so play centers on pushing and steering.

• Use the Small size for the stated small-breed and puppy starting range.
• For a dog over about 20 lb (9 kg), choose a larger size: 22 inches (55.88 cm) or 25 inches (63.5 cm).

How does this ball support herding-style play?

The ball rolls and stops in a way designed to resemble livestock movement, giving herding breeds something to pursue and direct. Dogs push it with their shoulders and nose rather than picking it up for fetch. Inflate it until firm, within the specified 2–3 PSI range, and keep play supervised; this is not a chew toy.

• Made for herding play, not fetch.
• Keep the ball out of direct heat.
• Use it with supervision and do not offer it as a chew toy.

What comes with the Race&Herd ball?

The set contains the protective zip cover, inner ball, hand pump, repair patches and an IACP-approved herding training guide. The cover takes the pushing during play, while the inner ball can be replaced. Included patches let you repair the ball after a puncture, so a single puncture does not have to end its use.

• Protective zip cover paired with a separate inner ball.
• Repair patches are included for punctures.
• The training guide is approved by IACP.

This Ocean-color 18-inch set suits owners of small herding breeds and puppies who want supervised pushing-and-steering play, with the pump and repair pieces supplied. It is intended for herding play rather than chewing or fetch.
