Resco Cordo-Hyde Martingale Dog Show Lead, 12-Inch Wheat, Adjustable Fit

The Resco Cordo-Hyde Martingale Dog Show Lead is a 12-inch (30.5 cm) show lead made for responsive, discreet handling during conformation work, with wax-coated cotton Cordo-Hyde construction.

• Integrated martingale lead and collar — gives the handler responsive control without an everyday collar-and-leash setup.
• Wax-coated cotton Cordo-Hyde — can be gathered into the hand to keep the lead discreet in the show ring.
• Stiff lead construction — lets the dog respond to a handler’s tug during ring presentation.
• Adjustable loops and Resco brass hardware — allow the neck opening to be fitted quickly.
• American-made with a quick-release, nickel-plated bolt snap — supports fast attachment and release.

Conformation handling calls for a lead that lets the handler guide the dog while keeping the presentation focused on the dog. This martingale style is made for show-ring work and practice, including gaiting, stacking, handling classes and ringcraft sessions. Its slim, gatherable construction helps keep excess lead in the handler’s hand rather than drawing attention during a presentation.

How does this lead help during conformation handling?

The integrated martingale design combines the lead and collar in one piece for handling in the ring. Cordo-Hyde has enough stiffness for the dog to respond to a handler’s tug, while its wax-coated cotton construction can be balled up in the hand to keep the lead less visible. The lightweight design is intended for show dogs and handlers who want responsive control without the bulk of an everyday collar and leash.

• Made for gaiting, stacking and presenting dogs in conformation.
• Suitable for breed shows, handling classes and ringcraft practice.
• Designed for professional handlers, breeders and owner-handlers.

How should I choose the martingale fit?

Measure your dog’s head at its widest point, including over the ears, and measure the neck directly behind the ears. Choose a martingale collar approximately 2 inches (5.1 cm) smaller than the behind-the-ears neck measurement, while making sure the adjusted opening can still pass comfortably over the head. This two-measurement check helps balance a show fit with enough room to put the lead on.

• Measure the head over the ears before choosing a fit.
• Measure the neck where the show lead normally sits: directly behind the ears.
• Confirm the opening passes over the head, even when following the recommended neck measurement.

What materials and hardware does the lead use?

The Cordo-Hyde material is wax-coated cotton with a leather-like appearance and a flexible feel. The lead also has adjustable loops, Resco brass hardware and an American-made nickel-plated bolt snap with quick release. The combination gives handlers an adjustable martingale setup and a fast-release attachment for show handling.

• Wax-coated cotton Cordo-Hyde construction.
• Integrated adjustable loops for fitting the neck opening.
• Quick-release bolt snap for attachment and release.

Where is this 12-inch lead intended to be used?

This Resco lead is intended for conformation competition and training exercises connected with show handling. Use it for ringcraft practice, gaiting, stacking and presenting a dog; its slim profile is designed to be gathered discreetly in the handler’s hand. It is a show-handling lead rather than a bulky everyday collar-and-leash setup.
