Seachem Flourish Excel Aquarium Plant Carbon, 2 L Liquid Nutrient

Seachem Flourish Excel is a liquid nutrient for aquarium plants, providing bioavailable organic carbon in a 2-liter size and offering a convenient alternative to CO₂ injection.

• Bioavailable organic carbon — supplies aquarium plants with a carbon source.
• Iron-reducing properties — promotes iron in the ferrous Fe+2 form, which plants can use more readily than ferric Fe+3.
• Ready-to-dose liquid — provides compounds that bypass the plants’ production of photosynthetic intermediates.
• Alternative to CO₂ injection — gives aquarium keepers another way to supply plants with carbon.
• Flexible dosing — the product can be dosed daily or every other day after initial use.

Aquarium plants need a source of carbon, and dosing can be part of a regular plant-care routine. Flourish Excel is made for planted aquariums where a liquid carbon source is preferred over CO₂ injection. Its iron-reducing action also supports the availability of iron in a form that plants use more easily.

How does Flourish Excel support aquarium plants?

Flourish Excel supplies bioavailable organic carbon and introduces structurally similar compounds that let plants bypass the production of longer-chain carbon compounds used as photosynthetic intermediates. It also promotes iron in the ferrous state, Fe+2, rather than the ferric state, Fe+3. Together, these functions make it a liquid nutrient option for aquariums with plants.

• Made for aquarium plants that need a carbon source.
• Provides organic carbon in a bioavailable form.
• Promotes iron in the form more readily utilized by plants.

How much should I use?

For initial use or after a major water change of more than 40%, dose 1 capful (5 mL) for every 40 L (10 US gallons) of aquarium water. After that, use 1 capful for every 200 L (50 US gallons) daily or every other day. Each cap thread holds approximately 1 mL, which allows smaller doses to be measured.

• Initial dose: 5 mL per 40 L (10 US gallons).
• Ongoing dose: 5 mL per 200 L (50 US gallons), daily or every other day.
• For smaller amounts, each cap thread is approximately 1 mL.

Is Flourish Excel suitable for aquariums with fish?

Flourish Excel is safe for fish. If Anacharis is in the aquarium, use the product every other day rather than daily. This dosing guidance helps aquarium keepers account for the presence of this plant while maintaining a regular routine.

• Suitable for use in aquariums with fish.
• With Anacharis present, choose every-other-day dosing.

Flourish Excel suits aquarium keepers caring for planted tanks who want a measured liquid source of bioavailable organic carbon, along with an iron-reducing action, without relying on CO₂ injection. Its use is guided by aquarium water volume, dosing frequency and whether Anacharis is present.
