Tetra Whisper EX 70 Aquarium Power Filter for 170–265 L Tanks, 340 GPH

Tetra Whisper EX 70 is a silent, multi-stage aquarium power filter for 45 to 70 gallon tanks, with a 340 GPH flow rate to support clean, clear water.

• Multiple layers of filter floss — capture particles as water passes through the filter.
• Activated carbon — removes odors, discoloration and impurities from aquarium water.
• Bio-Scrubber — removes ammonia and nitrates from the water.
• Submerged motor — starts filtering without priming, for a straightforward setup.
• Round cartridge carrier — minimizes dripping during cartridge changes.

For aquariums that need continuous water movement and multi-stage filtration, the EX 70 combines particle filtration with carbon and biological filtration components. Its outflow also increases water oxygenation, while the motor operates quietly. It is made for regular aquarium use, with setup and cartridge changes designed to be simple and less messy.

How does the Tetra Whisper EX 70 filter aquarium water?

The Tetra Whisper EX 70 moves water continuously through multiple filtration stages to help prevent debris buildup and keep aquarium water clean and clear. Water passes through layers of floss that remove particles, while carbon works on odors, discoloration and impurities. The Bio-Scrubber removes ammonia and nitrates, and the outflow maximizes water oxygenation.

• Continuous water movement helps prevent debris from building up.
• Floss, carbon and the Bio-Scrubber provide different filtration functions.
• The outflow contributes to water oxygenation.

What aquarium size and cartridge does the EX 70 fit?

The Tetra Whisper EX 70 is designed for aquariums holding 45 to 70 gallons. Its flow rate is 340 GPH, and it uses large Tetra Whisper EX Carbon Filter Cartridge refills. Match the filter to an aquarium within that stated capacity range.

• Tank capacity range: 45–70 gallons.
• Replacement cartridge type: large Tetra Whisper EX Carbon Filter Cartridge.

How do I set up the filter and change its cartridge?

The Tetra Whisper EX 70 is ready to set up out of the box and does not require priming. Adjust the extension tube, place the filter in the aquarium and plug it in; its submerged motor begins filtering immediately. For cartridge changes, the round carrier is designed to minimize drips and help keep hands and floors dry.

• Setup steps: adjust the extension tube, position the filter and plug it in.
• No priming is needed before operation.
• The carrier design makes cartridge changes cleaner and easier.

The Tetra Whisper EX 70 suits aquarium keepers with a 45 to 70 gallon tank who want continuous filtration, multiple stages for particles and water impurities, and a setup that starts without priming. Tetra has developed fishkeeping products since 1951, and this filter pairs that brand experience with a 340 GPH power filter for the specified aquarium range.
