ChokeFree Pet Shoulder Collar, 23-Inch Metallic Blue, Leather with Val-Lock Closure

ChokeFree is a 23-inch (58.42 cm) metallic blue pet shoulder collar designed to restrain a pet without pressure on the neck or airway, using a one-piece wrap and Val-Lock Closure.

• Shoulder-wrapping design — helps keep restraint pressure off the neck, fore chest and airway.
• Patented D-ring and hook-and-loop Val-Lock Closure — secures the collar without buckles or clasps.
• Leather construction with paw ornaments — combines the collar’s restraint design with decorative paw details.
• For chest circumferences from 8 in (20.32 cm) to 28 in (71.12 cm) — provides a stated fit range for choosing a size.
• Easy-on, easy-off design — makes putting on and removing the collar simpler, and it can be used with Paw Rider.

Conventional neck collars can put leash pressure against a pet’s neck and airway. ChokeFree is made for walks and other restraint situations where owners want to avoid that pressure. Its shoulder-based design is intended to help prevent choking and restraint-related neck injuries; the brand also states that the collar prevents coughing during restraint.

How do I choose the right size?

Measure your pet’s chest circumference just behind the front legs, then add 1 in (2.54 cm) to that measurement to determine the correct size. The stated fit range is 8–28 inches in chest circumference, and this listing is for the 23-inch size. Measure at the specified point rather than around the neck to make your selection.

• Chest measurement location: immediately behind the front legs.
• Available in vibrant colors; this version is metallic blue.

How does the Val-Lock Closure secure the collar?

The closure uses a D-ring placed through hook-and-loop material to secure the one-piece collar around the shoulders. This fastening method avoids the buckles and clasps used by many conventional restraints. The collar combines the simplicity of a one-piece collar with harness-style shoulder coverage.

• The closure is patented.
• The collar wraps around the pet’s shoulders.

What is the shoulder collar designed to do on walks?

It is designed to restrain a pet without placing pressure against the neck, fore chest or airway. This makes it an alternative to conventional neck collars and harnesses for owners seeking a restraint that shifts its contact away from those areas. The design aims to reduce gagging and coughing associated with pressure from a restraint; it is not a treatment for a medical condition.

• Made for walking and restraint use.
• One-piece design for easy-on, easy-off wear.
• Compatible with Paw Rider.

ChokeFree suits pet owners looking for a shoulder-wrapping restraint, particularly when avoiding leash pressure at the neck and airway is a priority. Choose by the chest measurement behind the front legs and the size guidance above; the 23-inch metallic blue version has a leather construction, paw ornaments and a D-ring Val-Lock fastening system.
