Fluval AquaClear AC30 Aquarium Power Filter for 37.9–114 L, Adjustable Flow

The Fluval AquaClear AC30 Power Filter is a hang-on aquarium filter designed to maintain clear, well-filtered water in 10–30 US gallon (38–114 L) aquariums, with adjustable flow and a maximum output of 150 U.S. Gal./h (568 L/h).

• Mechanical, chemical, and biological filtration — addresses three filtration needs in one system.
• Includes AquaClear Foam, Activated Carbon Filter, and AquaClear BioMax — supplies the filter with three types of media.
• Filtration volume up to 7 times larger than comparable filters — provides more space for filtration media.
• Patented flow control — lets you adjust water flow to suit aquarium needs.
• Waterfall return — returns filtered water gently and helps oxygenate the aquarium.
• Media basket designed to prevent bypass — directs water through the filter media.

Keeping aquarium water clear calls for filtration that handles particles, chemical impurities, and biological filtration within the same system. The AquaClear AC30 is made for aquariums with freshwater fish and live plants, and is also identified for freshwater and saltwater tanks. Its hang-on design, adjustable flow, and supplied media make it a practical choice for routine aquarium filtration.

What does the AquaClear AC30 filter do?

The Fluval AquaClear AC30 combines mechanical, chemical, and biological filtration to help maintain aquarium water quality. Its filter media supports the filtration process while preserving beneficial bacteria, helping maintain a stable environment for aquarium inhabitants. The filter is equipped with Cycle Guard for continuous biological filtration, and is designed to remove toxins, odors, and discoloration.

The media basket keeps water from bypassing the media, while the filter’s design provides extended water-to-media contact time. The AquaClear Power Filter line offers five models with different flow rates for popular aquarium sizes, so the AC30 serves as the model intended for 10–30 gallon tanks.

• Three-stage filtration: mechanical, chemical, and biological.
• Cycle Guard supports continuous biological filtration.

What media comes with the Fluval AquaClear AC30?

The Fluval AquaClear AC30 comes equipped with AquaClear Foam, Activated Carbon Filter, and AquaClear BioMax. These components provide the mechanical, chemical, and biological media used by its multi-stage filtration system.

Fluval also makes additional media for the AC30, including Zeo-Carb and Ammonia Remover. The filter’s media volume can be up to six times greater than that of other filters, and the product description also gives filtration volume as up to seven times larger than comparable filters. Both claims reflect the filter’s capacity for media and contact with aquarium water.

• Supplied media: AquaClear Foam, Activated Carbon Filter, and AquaClear BioMax.
• Additional AquaClear media options include Zeo-Carb and Ammonia Remover.

How does the AquaClear AC30 return water to the aquarium?

The Fluval AquaClear AC30 uses a waterfall-style return that sends filtered water back into the tank, gently disturbing the surface to promote oxygenation. Its patented flow control allows you to adjust output according to aquarium needs, up to a maximum of 150 U.S. Gal./h (568 L/h).

The filter is designed with an energy-saving pump and quiet operation, making it suitable for aquariums in living rooms, bedrooms, or offices. The hang-on filter is designed to fit securely on most tanks in its 10–30 gallon capacity range; compare your aquarium size with that range when choosing a filter.

• Maximum output: 150 U.S. Gal./h (568 L/h).
• Adjustable flow and a waterfall-style return.

Is the Fluval AquaClear AC30 easy to install and maintain?

The Fluval AquaClear AC30 is designed for quick installation and straightforward maintenance. Cleaning every two weeks is recommended to support filter performance and help keep aquarium water clear.

Routine care gives you an opportunity to maintain the filter and its media as part of aquarium upkeep. Its media basket and included filtration components are built into one hang-on system, so mechanical, chemical, and biological filtration are handled together.

• Designed for quick installation and simple maintenance.
• Recommended cleaning interval: every two weeks.

The Fluval AquaClear AC30 is suited to aquarium keepers with 10–30 gallon tanks who want adjustable, multi-stage filtration and supplied mechanical, chemical, and biological media. It is intended for freshwater fish and planted aquariums, and is also specified for freshwater and saltwater tanks. Its capacity range, adjustable flow, and waterfall return define its fit for those aquarium setups.
