Water outings can involve changing conditions, from swimming at the pool or beach to joining you on a boat or kayak. The Dawson is made for dogs who are novice to intermediate swimmers and need flotation support during these activities. Its combination of buoyancy features, an adjustable fit, and a handle gives you practical ways to support your dog in and around the water.

What kind of swimming is the Dawson designed for?

The Dawson is designed for novice to intermediate canine swimmers during recreational water activities. Use it for swimming, boating, kayaking, beach visits, pool time, and other water adventures. The vest’s flotation features are intended to support your dog in the water; the product is not presented as a replacement for supervision.

• Suitable for water activities in open water or a pool.
• Designed for dogs across a range of body types, with sizes from XS to XL.

How does the vest support my dog in the water?

Neoprene panels along the sides provide buoyancy and thermal insulation, while a float at the front of the neck adds support to help your dog keep their head above the surface. These features combine flotation with warmth, including for swimming in cold water. The XS size has a single handle on top; sizes S also have one handle, while sizes M, L, and XL have two.

• The neck float is positioned to support the front of your dog.
• The top handle can be used to hold and support your dog as needed.

How do I choose the right fit for size XS?

Measure your dog’s girth around the widest part of the rib cage when selecting a size. The Dawson has adjustable straps and quick-release buckles, so you can secure the vest around your dog once it is on. Also consider individual proportions, such as a broad shoulder area or a long torso, when choosing the size.

• Compare your dog’s rib-cage girth with the size guidance before choosing.
• Account for body shape as well as the girth measurement.

Can my dog move comfortably while wearing it?

The vest uses an ergonomic shape intended to allow unrestricted movement, with breathable ripstop material for active dogs. Reflective accents and a bright color are included to improve visibility in low-light conditions. This listing is the green XS version, intended for smaller dogs whose measured girth and body shape suit that size.

• Adjustable straps help create a snug fit in and out of the water.
• Quick-release buckles make the straps easier to fasten and release.

The Outward Hound Dawson is suited to owners bringing novice or intermediate swimmers along for pool, beach, boating, or kayaking activities. Choose XS based on your dog’s rib-cage girth and proportions; this version pairs side-panel flotation with a front neck float and a single top handle.
