Race&Herd 25-Inch Herding Ball, Ocean, with Cover, Inner Ball & Pump

Race&Herd Original Herding Ball is a weighted ball for supervised herding play, with a 25" (63.5 cm) size and a protective cover over a replaceable inner ball.

• 25" Large size for dogs about 18–40 lb (8.2–18.1 kg) — choose a size designed around your dog’s weight.
• Too large to carry and weighted to roll and stop like livestock — encourages herding-style movement instead of fetch.
• Protective zip cover, replaceable inner ball and repair patches — gives you two layers designed to be repaired.
• Complete set with a hand pump and IACP-approved herding training guide — includes key play and setup items.
• Inflate to 2–3 PSI and use for supervised play — supports the intended use and care of the ball.

Herding breeds often need an outlet for chasing and steering. This ball is made for herding play rather than carrying or retrieving: its size and weighted roll give dogs an object to push and direct with their bodies. Use it with supervision, and keep in mind that it is not a chew toy.

How does the ball support herding play?

Race&Herd’s weighted ball rolls and stops like livestock, giving herding dogs a moving object to pursue and steer. Its size makes it too large for a dog to carry, so the intended interaction is to push it with the shoulders and nose. The design is for supervised herding play, not fetch.

• Made for dogs to push, chase and steer.
• Its movement is designed to resemble livestock movement.

Which dog is the 25-inch size for?

The Large size suits dogs around 18–40 lb (8.2–18.1 kg), including Border Collies and Blue Heelers. For a high-drive dog or one weighing 35 lb (15.9 kg) or more, the recommended size is 30" (76.2 cm). Use your dog’s weight and drive level to choose the size.

• Border Collies and Blue Heelers are examples for the Large size.
• High-drive dogs and dogs 35 lb (15.9 kg) and over are directed to the 30-inch size.

What is included, and how should I set it up?

The set includes the protective zip cover, inner ball, hand pump, repair patches and an IACP-approved herding training guide. The cover takes the pushing, while the inner ball can be replaced; the included patches provide a repair option for punctures. Inflate until the ball feels firm, at 2–3 PSI.

• Keep the ball out of direct heat.
• Use only for supervised herding play; it is not a chew toy.

Race&Herd Original Herding Ball is suited to owners of herding breeds looking for a ball dogs push and steer during supervised play. The 25-inch Large size is intended for dogs about 18–40 lb, while high-drive dogs and dogs 35 lb or more are directed to the 30-inch size. Its weighted roll, protective cover and replaceable inner ball make it a herding-play set with repair components included.
