HASHIMOTO Dog Thinning Shears, 6.5-Inch 42-Tooth Grooming Scissors

HASHIMOTO dog thinning shears are designed to thin and shape a dog’s coat for a blended finish, with 42 teeth and a 6.5-inch size.

• Japanese Hitachi 440C stainless steel blades — provide sharp, precise cutting.
• Lightly textured aluminum alloy ambidextrous grips — suit either hand and offer a comfortable hold.
• Nearly 50% lighter than regular shears — make handling easier during longer grooming sessions.
• 30% thinning rate, with a stated range of 25–35% — helps remove bulk while preserving coat length.
• 100% satisfaction or money-back guarantee, with no return required — provides a clear purchase assurance.

Thinning shears help soften the look of a trim and reduce thickness in areas where a straight cut could remove more length than intended. HASHIMOTO designed this pair for professional pet groomers and families grooming dogs at home, including when shaping a thick coat or blending trimmed areas.

How do the teeth thin a dog’s coat?

The 42 V-shaped teeth sit on one side of the shears and are designed to thin rather than cut away the same amount of coat as a straight blade. The stated thinning rate is 25–35%, with 30% given as the product’s rate. This makes the shears suitable for reducing bulk and creating a natural-looking blend without intentionally shortening the coat as much as a full cut.

• V-shaped tooth design for thinning and blending.
• Made for trimming and shaping dog fur.

What are the blades and handles made from?

The blades use Japanese Hitachi 440C stainless steel, while the handles are aluminum alloy. The blade material is selected for sharpness, smooth cutting and precision; the lightly textured handles are ambidextrous and shaped for comfortable handling. The lightweight design is nearly 50% lighter than regular shears, which can make extended grooming easier to manage.

• Japanese Hitachi 440C stainless steel blades.
• Lightly textured aluminum alloy grips for left- or right-handed use.
